Countdown to Copenhagen

ACTION ALERT - SEPTEMBER 21st!
CLIMATE WEEK

September 21st marks the start of an important week as the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Climate Change kicks off in New York as the largest ever gathering of heads of state focused exclusively on climate change. This week the G20 will also meet in Pittsburgh  and climate change is on the agenda. World leaders must take strong action both domestically and internationally to ensure a strong agreement in Copenhagen in December.

Climate Action Network Canada is proud to support the tcktcktck.org campaign as they organize actions around the world on the 21st of September. At 12:18 pm (the date of the Copenhagen negotiations), people around the world will mobilize, forming giant human 'alarm clocks' to remind leaders that time is running out and we must wake up and take action on climate change.

Check out actions going on in your area Here OR organize your own and register Here.

*Remember, these actions are limited only by your imagination so feel free to come up with your own ideas!

Bills Bills Bills

Help pass the Climate Change Accountability Act, which would move Canada from environmental laggard to international environmental leader! Our federal elected officials will resume deliberating on the Climate Change Accountability Act on September 14.  Now is the time to act!

Support the Climate Change Accountability Act

Make your September 21st action even more meaningful by organizing a lobbying meeting or demonstration  to ensure your elected official:

a)     Supports the Climate Change Accountability Act, and

b)    Signs the Kyoto Plus Petition. The Kyoto Petition asks politicians to support greenhouse gas reductions equivalent to those outlined in the Climate Change Accountability Act. We need only 13 more elected officials to sign the Kyoto Plus Petition to secure majority support in Parliament.

Check to see if your MP has signed the Kyoto Plus Petition

AGE OF STUPID GREEN CARPET EVENT

Climate Action Network Canada will be hosting a Green Carpet special sneak preview of the acclaimed climate change film, 'the Age of Stupid' on the 21st of September at the Royal Theatre in Toronto. This event is by invitation only, so if you are interested in tickets for yourself or your organization please contact media@climateactionnetwork.ca.

See www.ageofstupid.net/ for more information on the film

HOST YOUR OWN PREMIER...

Climate Action Network Canada would like to encourage its members to take action and host your own premier of 'the Age of Stupid' in your region (the movie will be made available shortly after the North American premier). Invite local politicians, personalities, or just your friends for an exclusive peak at what is sure to be a powerful film.
If you are interested in hosting your own screening please contact us  contact us>
